RLJE Films has released a new trailer for the horror film Seance directed by Simon Barrett (You’re Next, The Guest). The film features Suki Waterhouse (Assassination Nation, Detective Pikachu, Misbehavior) in the lead role. And as we can see in the trailer, this film seems to be featuring a mix of several genres, with an aura of slasher, paranormal and murder mystery “wrapped up” into one.
The Seance trailer opens with Suki Waterhouse’s character, Camille, arriving at an exclusive academy for women. He has a little trouble at first, but when he finds out there is a figure haunting the school hall. Camille then decided to join a group of her fellow students in a ritual to try and summon this spirit. But then strange things start to happen and blood starts to spill out when they have to face the demon they released.
In essence, Seance will be about Camille Meadows (Waterhouse), a new girl at the prestigious Edelvine Academy for Girls. Shortly after he arrived, six girls invited him to join them in a ritual. They summon the spirit of a dead former student and haunt their hall. Before morning came, one of the girls was already dead, which made the others wonder what they had “summoned.”
Apart from Waterhouse, this film also stars Madisen Beaty (Once Upon a Time In Hollywood, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Ella-Rae Smith (Into the Badlands, Hobbs & Shaw), Inanna Sarkis (Boo 2! A Madea Halloween, After), Seamus Patterson (Channel Zero) and Marina Stephenson-Kerr (Cult of Chucky).
Simon Barrett himself is known for his collaborations with Godzilla vs Kong director Adam Wingard in horror films like You’re Next, The Guest and Blair Witch version 2016. The film, due for release on May 21, marks the first time he’s stepped behind the camera to direct. a feature film.
